Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I try something different from conventional medicine?

This is a very personal question. Many people find conventional care suits their needs perfectly, which is great- it can be very effective and cost efficient for many conditions. You may not need anything else!

But if you suffer from a chronic dermatological condition and you aren’t satisfied with the results you’ve received, or you don’t want to use steriods, antibiotics or biologic drugs, maybe it’s time to try something different.

What are the fees?

The rate is based on time (whether via telemedicine or by phone):

  • Extended First Visit (labs run prior to visit and reviewed at 1st visit + video course): $1,000

  • 30 minute follow up visit: $300

  • Gut microbiome testing: $321 for stool test & $280 for Organic Acid Test (urine); $601 total

  • Assume ~$100-$200 a month for oral supplements + topicals (varies by patient and by treatment plan)

  • No show/late cancellation fee: $150 (scheduled visits must be cancelled with at least 24 hours business notice to avoid this fee)

Why do I need a free 15 minute consultation before booking an appointment?

It’s important that you and Dr. Greenberg speak prior to a visit to determine if naturopathic and integrative medicine is a good fit for your dermatological problem. Some problems are better suited to conventional medicine and are covered by insurance. We do not want you to spend money out of pocket when your issue could quickly be resolved and paid for by your health insurance.

Please note that by law Dr. Greenberg cannot give medical advice until care has been established with a patient. No medical advice will be given during the 15 minute free consultation.

What if I don’t live in CA, WA or OR?

Dr. Greenberg is only licensed to see patients in California, Washington and Oregon. If you do not reside in one of these states, Dr. Greenberg cannot treat you as a patient.

If you live outside CA, OR or WA, check out RootCauseDermatology where you can take courses given by Dr. Greenberg.

How long is the first appointment?

The first appointment is either a 90 minute comprehensive new patient visit ($700) (or a 2 hour combined 1st & 2nd visit- $1,000). All visits are being conducted using telemedicine.

How long are follow up appointments?

Follow up appointments are 30 minutes (or longer if reviewing labs) ($300) and occur approximately 10-12 weeks after the initial visit, depending on the individual case. We will review how you are doing, what is working, and what we need to change. After that Dr. Greenberg typically sees patients once every 2-2.5 months for follow ups, however this can vary depending on the individual.

How long will it take to treat my condition?

There is unfortunately no way we can predict how long treating your condition will take. Our goal is to get you healthy as soon as possible so that you don’t need to continue seeing us!

Do you take insurance?

No, we do not bill insurance companies nor do we participate in Medicare or Medicaid. While naturopathic doctors are covered by health insurance plans in other states, they are generally not covered by health insurance plans in California.

If you have HSA or FSA funds, those funds can usually be used to pay for Naturopathic visits. CHECK WITH YOUR INDIVIDUAL FUND TO CONFIRM.

You will be required to pay for your visit at the time of service. Payment forms that we accept include Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Patients are required to leave a valid credit card on file which will be automatically charged if payment is not made at time of service.

No show/late cancellation fee of $150.00: Patients who have a scheduled appointment but are “no shows” or late cancellations (visits not cancelled with at least 24 business hours notice) will be charged $150.00.

You may request a Superbill at the time of service, which we are happy to provide you with. If you believe your plan coveres naturopathic doctors or alternative medicine, you can submit the Superbill as a claim. It is soley the patient’s responsibility to work with his/her insurance company regarding reimbursement. We do not guarantee reimbursement nor do we communicate with insurance companies on behalf of patients.

If your insurance does not cover naturopathic care, use of a Health Savings Account (HSA) or flexible spending account may cover our services. Check with your employer to see if one of these options is available to you.
